You've Got To Read It To Believe It
Have you ever read a saying, and were blown away by the immediate impact it had on your on your perspective?. You felt that it was so powerful that you could never forget it. Then what happened? You forgot it!
In the same way that looking at a treadmill will not influence you to lose weight, reading an occasional proverb will not change your state of mind. These sayings need to be mentally consumed regularly. Find comfort in words displayed on this page, read the bible, read a self-help book, or just get a small inspirational guide of quotes, and reference these items on a daily basis. Therapists refer to this as 'Positive Self-Talk'. In the beginning you will feel like you are just going through the motions. Eventually, they will integrate into your conscience, and you will begin to influence yourself into feeling content when you would have otherwise felt irritated. (Refresh page to see new quote.)
Something to Make You Giggle
Not to sound cliché, but laughter really IS the best medicine for distracting you away from negative thoughts. Check out our joke of the day, but also, look for humor throughout the day in other ways as well. Jokes are always being passed around on social networks, there are cable shows dedicated to comedy, and everyone has a friend that can make you laugh when you really didn't think you had it in you. At times when you are your own worst enemy, you really need to get away from yourself, and get lost in some good 'ol fashioned laughter!
